Default sport series springs w/trailer tow

i just finished installing the sport series lowering springs. as soon as i put the car back on the ground i measured the new height. the front is 1 1/2" lower and the rear is up 3/4". now that is an odd result. i am assuming the front will settle more, but the rear has me thinking something else. it has that super stock look, but that's not what i want.

monday, i will rework the shocks. there are no adjustments, no sensors, no wires or hoses. how do these shocks work. it seems like they are over compinsating my lowering springs. i can shorten the shocks by flipping the rubber grommet on the top. this will give me 1". i can also cut the lower mount 1" and re-weld it back. i can't take the full 2" out of the lower mount because the large diameter tubing will be too close the the cv joint boot. we will see how this goes monday.

i want to keep the trailer tow functional.

They will not settle down, I had the same set up and ended up getting the non-tow package shocks.

take your shocks out and remove the upper boot and take out to foam dampner, this should give your shock 1-2 more inches of travel

can i modify these shocks to lower the car? take a look and see if i can cut the lower 3/4" rod down and re-weld the mount back. anyone think this will work and let the car lower with the new springs?

your probably better off either using the shocks from a regular magnum, or taking yours to the autoparts store and comparison shopping, new shocks souldn's cost you that much

oh and this is the dampner i was talking about above

"alrighty then", i removed the dampner and trimmed the top rubber mount making the shocks a 1/2" shorter. after all that work, i am back to a stock height. wooooh hooo

i will have to cut and shorten the lower mount and re-weld it back together tomorrow. i am guessing this will do the trick and still have the self-leveling shocks working.

so much for my 2" drop sport springs for now. i only got an 1 1/2" in front and nothing in the back.

Those shocks are gas charged, pressureized so, I don't think I would put heat to them. The non-tow shoks are $90 each from the dealer, thats what I ended up getting too.

i am going to shorten the lower rod on the shocks tomorrow and see if this modification will lower the rear of the magnum. if this doesn't work, then i will buy the regular magnum shocks. this will be the test for everyone that wants to lower their magnum and keep the self-leveling shocks. if this works, i will post the results and tricks for everyone to see. if it fails to work, i will let everyone know what doesn't work to save others time.

now, i have to go and take my rear shocks out again and drive my SS to work tomorrow.

thanks for the help ob1 and undropped. i am not ready to throw the towel in yet.

well here are the results: after shortening the self-leveling shocks 2" to get the back lowered with the sport springs, it is still at the original ride height. how is that possible, i have no clue.

there are no wires or hose connections anywhere on these shocks. no adjustments either, yet these shocks keep pushing the rear back to the original ride height. i could probably take the springs completely out and it would stay at the original ride height.

this sucks.
