hemi slow to idle back down?????
i just installed a flowmaster system and now i notice that the motor takes forever to idle back down from rapping on the throttle. the motor may have always been like this, but it is real noticeable now with the new exhaust. this sounds like a restriction in the air intake to me.
anyone have a clue????

A restricted intake would make the car come back down quicker. It could be the throttle blade not shutting all the way. Or it could just be that you could not hear the engine with the stock exhaust.
Mine did it with the stock exhaust too.I think its more noticable with the flowmaster now..im not to worried about it because i dont sit there and rev my motor,,,thats not really good to free rev any engine..IMO
because of the flowmaster, the car is very slow to decelerate. this is a serious problem in traffic. it will also kill my brakes.
i am thinking that this system isn't matched to the hemi's needs. maybe the exhuast has no back pressure.
and maybe this system keeps sucking the exhaust out of the motor even after the throttle blades are closed.

the deceleration of the motor is back to normal. maybe the computer finally noticed the new exhaust and re-tuned the motor for it.
it took awhile, but it idles back down like it did before the exhaust change.

I have a 2008 power wagon with a 6 speed manual. It also has a slow rev back. And being a 6 speed it sounds bad when I get on the gas and shift when the rev down is slow. I thought it was just a manual transmission deal. I didn't know if a programmer could fix that or not.
