Default THX for the welcome, now for the questions!

I have scanned through many of the topics here, and found a great deal of info, thanks for that. Now I know where to get my carbon fiber components for my interior (Sherwood). But I want to do a few more things....

It seems from reading that the new Borla exhaust will give the best performance, and best sound (correct me if I am mistaken please), but what system is best? Cat-back, or full?

Will I see or hear any major difference by going the full exhaust, or will the cat-back suffice?

I see Flowmaster and MagnaFlow have similar systems for a lot less... any real differences?

What should be the 1st performance mod I do after the exhaust that will give a noticable difference for the least amount spent? I will be waiting a few weeks to allow the engine to poperly break in. I see a lot of cool air intakes (K&N aircharger, K&N Typhoon, and Volant... which seems to perform the best?

Thanks for any info!

Welcome,

With regards to the LX cars and exhaust, I really don't know if there is a different between "Full" exhaust and "Cat Back". I imagine a full exhaust starts at the exhaust manifolds and replaces everything to the tips. A cat back leaves the manifolds stock and anything ahead of the cat, and the last type would just be replacing mufflers or resonators. I think basically most of us are thinking about getting Cat Back systems because they don't mess with smog stuff and offer a decent performance improvement. I think a Borla with a K&N intake system would be a great start to modding this car.

I would do some more research before putting $$$ into an exhaust and CAI. From what I have gathered, no one has seen and MAJOR horsepower increase with a cold-air intake system. The BORLA exhaust system is a great one...there claim to fame is a stainless steel exhaust which will pretty much last the lifetime of the car. Some guys are finding that ZOOMERS exhaust systems are also pretty sweet on the Mag's.

I have the Mopar/Borla exhaust and the Mopar intake. Does it go better, dunno, don't care. Looks good, sounds good.

Exactly, how many of use are racing our magnums anyway? If I did these upgrades it would be primarily for sound, the extra 10hp would just be bonus.

Well for me performance is always a thought (I just got rid of a modded Typhoon) so naturally I can't let go of "go fast" thinking.

I want more of the sound and looks on the Magnum. Hopefully someday soon there will be some serious performance mods made for it, but until then, I'll focus on looks.

Question to those that run the Borla: I read on another thread that the Borla system was preventing the engine from idling down fast enough, are you experiencing this? Is it a result of too little backpressure?

No issues with mine. Are you sure that was referring to a Borla on a 5.7?

It may only have been an issue on the SXT, I seem to remember that model was brought up in the convo.
