Dailtone, yea that doesn't sound right to me. Maybe they dropped a 6.1L in yours by accident! (can you imagine!?)

I'm right there with you dialtone. I haven't gotton nearly as bad as what you get, but I don't get what I think this car is capable of. Some of these guys are getting upwards of 18-20 MPG, while the best I've gotton is probably close to 16-17.

Sorry to check in late. Here are my findings

SXT was loaded with two adults, two kids and suitcases, food, drink, toys, sleeping bags, cameras.

Tire pressure = 25psi all around

Miles driven= 295

Fuel Used = 13.67 Gals

Fuel Economy = 21.58 MPG

Speed varied between 75/90. I was trying to stick to 75 and cruise control but found a new mustand and began to play frog. Oh well[8D]

Tire pressure, load and climate will certainly affect your mileage. That's the only things I can think of that may explain the differences.

I just got my RT and have only put gas in it 2 times since we bought it. It has just under 600 miles and according to the computer on the car I am only getting 11-12mpg right now. This is horrible!

Yeah, it's new so of course I've got my foot in it most of the time, but I'm shocked at how different it is compared to what the sticker said. I know it's not always correct but damnnnnn, that's a huge difference. I have not been able to get more than 220 miles on a tank.

I have a 7 mile drive to work and it's usually 40-70mph on a bypass, so that could be part of it as well....

Hopefully as the engine breaks in it will get better. I am going to do what Bob suggested and check the tire pressure because they did look a little low to me last night.

The R/T mileage gets better at about 3000mi.

Looking at some of the milage #s guys have posted I think I should do a little better than the 16 - 21 mpg I'm averaging with a CAI & Magnaflow exhaust..I'm definately going to get the computer flashed when I take it in at 6000 mi in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the input guys

I have an SXT with 3100 miles. Drove to Montana the second day i had it 21 MPG one one leg and 25 on the same leg coming back with AC on part of the way. 2 Mountain passes as well.
Commute to work 25 miles. Last tank 15.4 gallons 370 miles (ok 369.9) thats about 24 MPG dead even 60% of the miles are highway.
Just added a K&N airfilter on that tank.

My SXT is fairly stripped down options wise and 17" stocks as well.

I have been working on this in my own little world.

2005 RT stock

Tire presure - 34 PSI
Highway Speed - 65MPH
Trip Type - 84 miles in length daily about 80% high way miles, 20% local roads
Style - I allow myself one good on ramp charge a day and throttle as need for traffic's stupidity
AC - run at auto and set on 76* on the days it is needed.
Mileage - 24K

Overall MPG - currently 23
Highway MPG - 26 to 27
Local MPG - 15 to 17

Tire presure helped a ton. It was running at 30 psi and having a hard time staying about 20MPG overall.

For those of you with lousy gas mileage, are you checking your tire pressure?
In my RT I run 35 pounds of air, front and rear.
Just a thought,
Bob
I run 32psi, noticed almost a 2mpg increase from 30psi. Plus I have pretty close to 150# of stereo. Too afraid of tire cupping with 35psi. I likes the corners hahahah Also have 13K on the odometer
