Default New idea for LCD monitor install. Only in brainstorming stage

This is the idea that I am playing with. It's been so since I had the bezel off, i'm not sure if this is feesible. 7" monitor, radio below and moving the ac controls down. I do know that there is enough slack for the AC control, but i cant remember if there is any structural obstruction. Alpine makes a DVD hedunit with Video out.

or this seems more likely

That would definately take some manuevering to get that to fly. Looks good though. I had an idea as well. It would only be nice in a "show" setting, but I thought two monitors installed in the "pockets" in the cargo area would be cool. Maybe angle them out so when the top is open, you see the screens. I would never go through with it, but its an idea maybe for someone else.

That should work. As you stated might have to extend a few lines for heating/air. But other than that, if you take out the original head unit, the area behind it is a completly open space that is perfect for it.

it's completely fesable as that's exactly what I did, the only thing though is you need to extend the wires on the rear wiper/hazzard lights/traction control unit and relocate that, I moved mine down to where the ashtray was.

i saw a magnum that they moved the radio into the over head console and shoe horned a huge monitor into the dash

I made the bezel out of a factory nav bezel and then used some wood and fiberglass reinforced bondo to fill in the gaps I needed to, though the wood has caused me tons of headaces cause of the different expansion and contraction rates from the rest of the bezel causing seams and eventualy cracks in the paint, I have fixed it a few times but it keeps coming back so eventualy i'm gona pull it out and completely remove the wood and fill in the gaps with more of the bondo, then I shouldn't have anymore issues.

don't think i've seen pictures of that magnum install before, I did see similar one someone did on a dodge ram though, they relocated the climate control to the overhead console and put in a 15" touchscreen monitor in the dash.

What I was going to use ABS blank plastic that most stereo shops have to fill in the needed area. I've used it before on an S-10 I used to have. Epoxy the needed fit parts. I then used a solder iron to make a small uniform groove on the epoxy joints then filled with bondo. It's like drywalling, where the joints are beveled to fill with mud. When I was finished it was perfectly smooth and no joint lines.
