I really hope you are kidding about using 5/30? The HEMI requires 5/20 for the MDS to function correctly, also for the warranty..

If it is a synthetic motor oil, 5W30 is okay, but 5W20 would be a better choice.

Here in Florida I have a little trouble finding the synthetic in a 5W20 grade.

Just have to look harder.

Mds still works average about 19 19.5 mpg. Ethier oil is fine. I think most cars are swicthing to 5w20. I use 5w40 in my grand national but that is for the turbo. I will only swicth to 5w20 if it is cheaper. 20k on y HEMI and still trucking just hope it makes it to 200k.

According to the Amsoil website, they seem to dominate alot of other oils. I'd go with Amsoil.

Right! According to the Amsoil website. I bet most manufacturers' websites claim their oil is better. I currentyl run Mobil 1. The main reason I don't use (or haven't tried Amsoil) is availability. Oil is one of those things that I don't like to plan for. I roll in to Pep Boys and buy Mobil 1. If I am in the mood to plan for it, I wait until Pep Boys has a sale and buy it for $4 a quart.

I requested Mobil 1 for my first three oil changes from the Dodge Dealer - on my fourth oil change the sales rep told me the 'veteran' mechanic put in regular oil because Mobil one did not come in the correct weight - I wrote Mobil One for info re switching from oil to synthetic and back but did not hear back from them - The vet mechanic said the engine check light might go on at altitude if I did not use the correct oil - TTL

I was a "preferred customer" of Amsoil for several years. That meant paying a $20 a year fee for the ability to buy Amsoil from their website. Amsoil is more expensive per quart than Mobil 1 especially after factoring in the shipping costs. As far as which one is best, they both perform well. In a well documented long term oil test on the internet, the only problem with Amsoil was that it tended thicken to a higher weight. Since I change my oil every 90 days with syn oil, (remember 4 banger turbo here), I go with the cheaper but high quality Mobil 1......

As DodgeMech suggested, you may want to use a new oil drain plug at every oil change or every oher oil change - so as not to screw up the oil pan which costs $$$$$$$$$.
A better choice would be to get one of these. oil drain valve

I have changed over to Ams oil and i replace the oil every 10k. I am on my thrid change, I have used Mobile 1 in the past and it works fine i just want to try some thing new and the Ams oil is good if you do a lot of driving and change your own oil.

You might want to consider another dealer as Mobil1 has had 5w-20 fore a while.
