oil for my hemi
Not it's not OK.. the manual states a specific oil weight. If you have an issue, you have given DC a reason not to honor a claim...
Many folks have had a ton of issues running a 30 weight oil in the hemi. Why go against the manuf ??
If you want to take a chance, so be it, but please don't tell folks who may not know the difference it's ok to go against what
DC recommends..................

Dodge Mech siad that he engine needs 5w20 for lifter bleed off for the MDS...if you run a heavier weight oil...it will not allow the engine to go to MDS mode...if this happens long enough the car will throw a warning light...this is what I was told.
I have used AMSOIL for 20 yrs and swear by it, it is not cheap, but when I have something I really want to keep I use it. I also use their syn trans fluid in all my previous autos, excluding the Magnum. I change my oil by color, clear, or light brown is fine, blackened, black or not see through is too late, somewhere in between I change it, usually around 4-5,000 miles or so, I change filter then too. It is my own maintence habit that has served me well. In the Magnum I have used only 5w-20 name brands, now it has 12,000 miles I will change to synthetic(helps alot in the cold winters)...jm
Usually I would agree, but in the past I put in syn early and it tokk way longer to fully break in. The Magnum already has a computer lock out till 6-7,000 miles so I really did not want to wait any longer to enjoy the "FULL" ride...thanks for your input

The "computer lockout" is that Dodge made the computer so it will not give full on untill broken in like 6-7,000 miles...most of us over that can feel the difference. In my case before 6,000 miles I could not break the tires loose, now smokey burnouts are no problem....
