rk hood modifications
has anyone tried to trim the cowl area on the hood? i am talking about cutting 2" off the cowl. i finally have all the body work done on my hood, but now i am thinking of cutting the cowl so it doesn't extend past the back end of the hood or hit the wiper, kind of like an AAR 'cuda hood. i have 20+ hours in smoothing this thing out. she's now perfect and ready for paint.
i will paint it in another month or two when temp and humidity are just right. i also want it to cure a little more.
one question, does anyone know what to spray on the hood before painting to stop static electricity? i can't remember.

thanks grin, the damp floor sounds like the thing to do. i am still not sure if i should trim the cowl or sink the wiper arm.
am i the only one that eliminated the fake heat exchangers and squirter on the hood? i thought about making them functional, but the main support brace was in the way. i like the smooth look better anyways.

I thought about making em functional too but would have to spend way too much time making a channel for rain water to travel down instead of dropping on my perty engine.
I wanted my squirter holes shaved too but the novice shop I took it to (Lou Fusz Dodge in St Louis) didn't know how to do that so they tols me it couldn't be done. Of course, they had a heck of a time shaving a simple roof rack too so...
Don't cut the cowl, man. It looks dope like that, would look funky cut and lowering the wiper arm to wipe the *** of RK sport is less of a job than the cut itself. I wish I knew about lowering the arm before I cut the top of mine off. If they had integrity, they'd buy me a new wiper arm to replace that one but I catagorize RK right along side Lou Fusz.
I'll throw Audio Express in St Louis in that squirly, bad-bidness pile as well.
you coming to the midwest meet Saturday?
otta be a good time, man

sounds like good advise, i will take it and lower the wiper arm. i think i only need to lower the right arm???
i wish i could go to the midwest meet, but i am already going to super chevy at route 66 dragway, which is only 15 minutes from my house.
as soon as i finish the hood, i am going back to route 66 for another time run. i am pretty sure i can break into the 13s this time.

yeah, just lower the right one. The drivers side doesnt rub.
You really think you'll get into the 13s? I havn't run mine since getting headers and a magnaflow kit but I'd be pleased and surprised if I came close to 14 flat. I know my 20s are addin a good half a second but I ran 14.9 last time. [&o] I think it's wishful thinkin for the headers to shave a whole second off my times. We'll see. I think I'm gonna head out to Gateway Raceway next Tuesday night and get some in-car footage of some races. I may get Mrs grinner out there too.

i ran 14.28 @99 bone stock in april. maybe the '06 have a better dual plug system, i don't know. the 99 mph part has me thinking it could break into the 13s. i will have a flowmaster system, 360 intakes w/ rk hood and deep freeze the intake manifold before my next pass. also, my car shifts better now. but, i really need a chip or programmer to keep the cylinders from mixing up at 5000 rpm. the hemi has so much potential. next spring, i will add the supercharger and intercooler.

tell me more about the intercooler. Deep freeze the manifold? Educate me, man. My 14.9 was with the 360 air intakz and the viper hood feeding it.
I'm gonna have mine blown as well. Still gotta pay off the tax man so it'll be a while.

the gs motorsport kit comes with an intercooler. when a supercharger or turbocharger compresses the air, it really heats it up. the intercooler help cool the air down before it enters the throttle body. my intercooled grand national with 18 lbs of boost was my fastest street car by far.
as for deep freezing the intake, i place two or three bags of ice right on top of the intake and leave them there for awhile. when everything is super cold, i take them off, close the hood, start it up and go right to the burnout and tree. my pass was on a cold motor, less than 140 degrees. my next pass will be with the ice trick, flowmaster, the ram-air system and maybe the programmer.
