don't forget about that missing front plate, and grin, i agree with you in that there is no way i would let a cop scrape my windows. i also need your help. i can't get anyone to do the front eyebrow on my car correctly. i want it to follow the natural curve of the window like yours. i really need the brow because driving home from work, the sun hit me right in the eyes. those little visors don't help much either.

If you've applied it before, I can cut ya one and send it to ya. If you havn't applied film before, come by some weekend and we'll bust it out in my carport.
Most tint shops just do the lazy eyebrow. That aint cuz it's all sloping down on each side lookin' all lazy. It's cuz they are too dang lazy to cut it. That droop on the edges is a result of straight, uncut film being applied to a rounded surface. It take much longer to do it the right way but such is the case with most tasks in life.

What freaks me out are stories you hear from people who say the cop mad em strip off the tint right there on the side of the road. Man, that aint happenin' here. A cop can't make you do anything to your ride. Can't even pull you over for it again that same day. Now, they can park at your house and ticket you every day for the same thing but there just aint a cop big enough to make take a key to my window on the highway.
Bottom line, make it the way ya want it, man.
In the state of NE and more so in OMAHA, they can pull you over for suspesion(sp) of illegal tint. If you cooperate, you will get a 30 day "fix-it" ticket. If you pull an attitude, they will impound the vehicle. You have to pay about $150 to get it out of impound and then still scrape. Oh yeah, If you cant get it out right away they charge, if I remember right, $50 a day impound fee. And the 30 days still started from the intial ticket not when you get it out. Right now they are in a battle over wording of the law. Basically it is illegal in NE to put anything on the widow area of a vehicle, but then in another section of the vehicle code, it says you can put up to 35% window tint. They have had a ticket fest once at the car show to anyone with logos etc on windows.

NE is a pretty messed up state. I got a fix-it ticket for a CLEAR license plate cover.

If you step back and look at it, it's pretty mickey mouse that there is even a law on this. They say it is for peace officer's safety as they can't see in the car they pulled over and they may have a weapon. Seems like if I were a cop, pulled someone over and their window wasn't rolled down when I walked up, I'd know somethin' was up. Being that there is no law on rear window tint, they walk up blind anyway. Heck, if they wanna stay safe, they should just not pull anyone over, just mail em a freakin ticket.
This is just the man puttin their thumb down on us a bit.
Guess it's why I tend to mod to my liking rather than try to oppease rules made up on the fly.

Thanks grinner i plan on doin it anyways. Like i said b4 i have had previous cars with the windows all blacked out and im not worried about it at all. The cops around where I live at now dont seem that bad at least I dont think so. There are a couple of guys in my apt complex that have there cars tinted like the way I want to do mine and I have been in this complex for a couple of months now and there windows are still tinted. So when it comes time for me to do it im going to do it anyways.

The laws vary from state to state. I just had my front driver & passenger windows done with 50%. It's a risk here in california. I'm told the law here is no tint what so ever on the front windows.

How odd that this thread just got topped.

I was pulled over yesterday (speeding of course) and during the conversation the officer informed me that my tint was too dark for MN state law. I replied that I had not even tinted the glass (my front windows are still untinted) and told him that it came from the factory this way. He said it was still too dark! He said that if he sees my car again with the same tint that he will pull me over and cite me for it.

I argued a bit, but not too much because he was letting me loose with no ticket for anything. I thought the tint law only applied to the front windows, he informed me otherwise. I told him that the dealership should get the tickets on a brand new vehicle because they should be inline with the laws... the average driver doesn't have them all memorized. He said it would still be on me, not the dealership... I guess they don't HAVE to follow the state laws!

Does anyone know for certain what percentage tint comes factory on our cars? I want to check it against the actual written laws.

Perhaps mine just SEEMS too dark due to the entire car being black?

I know there are different laws for different states....and thats the kicker. My 01 Dakota had darker tint then was allowed for the state of Indiana....yet I never once got pulled over.

I'm not sure of this, but isnt the Magnum listed as an S.U.V. or something? I know its not being affected by the Gas guzzler tax or what have you call it....
