05 magnum 2.7 liter question
#2
There are plenty of DIY for the 2.7 water pump if you try Google. You just remove Radiator Fan, Belts, pulley, intake manifold, valve cover, and timing cover. Only challenge is to get the timing right, the 2.7l timing hasn't change for the past 15 yrs, you can easily find that info on google and youtube.
However, when u replace water pump, replace the Timing Chain, Guides, and timing chain tensioner as well. Other wise you will be going in for the same job. And this job will require you to spend whole day if you never done it before.

Got a Haynes manual for car...This is a big job for sure, I'm having second toughts about it now but its to late. Its tore down and water pump, timing chain, guides, and new tensioner.
I'm having issue with the chain tensioner, I have all timing marks lined up and begin to turn the engine manually at the crank shaft, everything is good for a few rachet turns then the tensioner moves backward and allows slack in timing chain at the water pump, not enough to jump timing but quite a bit of slack, when I continue to racket the crank shaft the chain tightens for a coouple of rachet strokes then same thing with slack in chain at water pump. This is the first time I have ever done this job but this does not seem right to me. Had friend say this was normal and put everything back to gether and start it up and it should keep tension while running, but to be quite honest I'm to scare to do that don't want to jump timing and bend valves.
If there is anyone out there that could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
