RIP my Magnum? - update
Yes, that's right barely 9 months later and less than 10K miles, my beautiful red RT may be (read: most likely - it ain't pretty) on the way to the boneyard in the sky...8 car pileup on the freeway on the way home, and we were in the middle. So far 19K in damage and they haven't been able to get to the engine yet. Gotta tell ya though sad as it may be, the car probably saved me from serious injury. I walked away with a slight seatbelt/airbag burn, and that's about it. Passenger compartment remained completely intact even though the Hemi is about six inches behind and below where it should be. The spare and the battery are level with the floor in back, yet electric continued to work enough to get the windows down so I didn't choke on the airbag fumes. Please folks, always, always remember to wear those seatbelts!! Sad photos to follow.....
Of course now maybe it's RT8 time

Update 9/14...just got word she is indeed a total loss. Thanks to everyone for your encouraging words!
Tried to upload the photos, but the file is too large and can't seem to reduce resolution to fit...suggestions appreciated....
Feb 2006... Finally got everything settled in October and have not had time to update....Thanks to the hefty insurance premiums I pay, I actually received a check for what I paid for my Magnum. Yes, I got a "do over". Scary part is that I ended up with something else. After much soul searcing and test driving, I ended up with...gasp... a Jeep Grand Cherokee! Don't panic....

For starters, I want to say that I am glad you and everyone in your car are safe and sound. Also wanted to say that its great to hear you were kept safe in the first place.
That really sucks though to have such a nice car for so short a time lost to a car accident. I'd bet money it's totalled, especially with the engine compartment moved as much as it is. Hopefully your able to salvage that motor, I know I'd be trying to.....at the very least to part out or something.....
Like you said though, least now maybe you can get you that SRT-8 Mag....

You gotta love the engineering put into new vehicles these days and your Magnum. I'm glad you and your passengers were ok, and that the electronics were still functioning. If they total your new Magnum, will you be able to afford another new one even with the amount your insurance gives you?

Happy to hear you are fine. That is one major reason I bought my Magnum - the laws of physics. I love having all that steel around me and six airbags and a five star crash rating. Plus there is nothing like the big car ride. Time for you to get a new Magnum or Charger. Good luck.
