Default Magnum R/T Gas Mileage

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting in your Magnums with the Hemi? I am considering buying one for a everyday driver and I have a 30 mile highway 1 way commute?

At the beginning (first 7000 miles) I was getting worried, I didn't get better than 15MPG but now that it is broken in properly and I am doing more highway miles, I get about 19-20 on average. As with any car, stop and go will kill the MPG but the Hemi uses quite a bit of fuel at idle. I'm sure I could get better milage but its just too much fun punching it at the lights.[8D]

I drive 65 miles each way to work and have been averaging 20 MPG with every tank of gas running 89 octane. Avg highway speed 75 MPH. City MPG is not that good, around 15-16 MPG but highway is not bad at all...avg around 25 MPG.

With 15,000 miles on my RT, also have Flowmaster mufflers and a cold air intake, I get from 18-26 miles per gallon. Depends on what type of driving I am doing.
Keep your tires inflated to at least 35 pounds of air and use the cruise control.

If you are concerned about gas mileage, you might want to consider the SXT with the V6.

from what I understand, the high output v6 doesn't get that much better, you might want to consider, the gutless v6 if your worried about mileage, the sxt will get worse mileage because that unit is all wheel drive. Just get the one legger, but keep in mind, what your gaining in mileage you are gonna lose some serious power. That base v6 can't get out of it's own way.

If your gona worrie about MPG look at others. You'll need to feed it 89 oct or higher (91-93) if you do some mods or a chip/tuner. If future pump prices are gona make ya crazzy, every time you fill up find something else. My R/T AWD got 13-15 for 1st 1K miles. Next 1k has seen 18 on interstate with cruise at 65-70. It drives different than many other cars. Its heavy 4400lbs and takes some getting the hang of starting and in heavy traffic. The final drive ratio is high(308/309) and 4th and 5th gear are not far enough apart to get good mileage on the road.
Buy it for the right reasons. Its fun to drive. It has style. Its great to put your foot into it getting on the interstate and running up to a 100.
