Default lift gate button

I wonder why dodge decided not to put a lift gate button in the passenger compartment on the magnum?? I don't understand this one, or on the key. That's kind of a pisser, it's not like these things are 88 nissan sentra's or something. Suppose to be a luxury car/sports car. oh well life goes on.

On a side note got it back from the dealer again, and it seems to be running smooth, finally. They got the inside all greasy of course but, I expected that, and when they washed it, they put swirls in the paint too, I expected that also, I work at a body shop, so not real worried about that stuff.

Why would you need one? Unlock the door and the hatch unlocks.

It's just a convinience thing for my kids, sometimes they have a hard time finding the button in the handle, It would be easier for them to open up if all they had to do was lift it up, my wife runs a day care, and time is important so every little bit helps. It would be cool if she could pull up and all the kids pile out for school and the hatch is already open.

The plug is attached to the headlight wiring. Black/black with purple stripe I think.

Some jumper the plug and it works and some dont, like mine. I think i have come up with something that would work. I going to look through the wiring diagrams and see if the wires that run to the rear switch are somewhere up front. You can tap into them and then get a button switch and put it in like the 300s. The button should be a momentary contact switch, releases the latch while pressed. If this works you can then hold the button until someone lifts the hatch past the latch. Or get a couple of door poppers to push it past the latch, but they cant be too strong so that the hatch pops up and then reseats itself.

Something else to play with.

I need to hook up a wireless entry ofr mine. Since shaving the handle, it's a two-handed process to open the gate and ya know what?
ya always have stuff in your hands when opening the gate.

I have to look but if the rear gate has adjustable bump stops, you can raise them up a little bit, it will stick out your gate just a tad, but they might put enough pressure on the gate when you hit the button. I am gonna check it out tonight.

Grinner, have you thought about a couple of door poppers? The trick is to get some not too strong to pop it and then relatch itself. I have been playing with the idea of getting the 300's dash mounted switch and swapping it with the hatch handle switch.
