Air Intake Restriction?
I am new here so bare with me.
Does the air intake on the Magnum RT have any restriction that needs to be removed?
I see the intake goes down behind the grill/headlight, what is down there?
Thanks,
Bob

My personal recommendation is to leave the dinky intake tube on the bottom and add a cold air intake on top of it. The small tube on the bottom actually goes underneath the car to an air scoop. Kind of acts like a small ram air scoop. THere is one company that has a Cold air intake available for the Magnum and two are very close to releasing theirs. Airaid http://www.airraid.com has one available. 360 Air Intakez http://www.360airintakez.com should be releasing theirs within the next week or so. K&N has finished prototyping theirs but it is not released yet. Not sure when it will be released. My personal preference is for the 360 Air Intakez. The AirRaid unit does not replace the accordian style tube going from the filter box to the engine. Both the 360 Air Intakez and AirAid units keep the stock dinky tube on the bottom of the air filter box. 360 also lets you select the color of the air tube. They will powder coat it most any color you want. Here is a picture of one installed on a test vehicle:

Hope this helps.

Okay, this GIGANTIC chunk of plastic, which is about 3 milk jugs is down there. It has a restriction point of 3" and has a pretty big baffle for the resonator. I took it out. It seemed to help above about 5000 RPM. There is only ONE bolt holding it in.
Those are NOT cold air intakes. They simply cone filters or maybe "ice boxes", although a proper ice box is usually made with Lexan or similar. Those are glorified warm air intakes.
I have a true CAI that will sit right were that chunky resonator sits and there is just about ZERO chance that water could ever splash there. I have a turbo sitting right there on my Grand AM, which has a very similar front in and I've NEVER even come close to sucking up water. And it draws more air than the Magnum will. It will have a cone filter and 3.5" tubing. I have the pipes in front of me. I'm just waiting to get couplers for it so I can slap it together and fine tune it. Then it will be available shortly afterwards.

Ok, help me here. I've not taken the air box out of my car yet. This 3 milk jug looking thing that's held in by a single bolt, where is it located exactly? If I remove my top cover to my air box, remove my filter, is there something I can easily unbolt down there that you are talking about?
Sorry for being such a newbie... I'm not Mr. Goodwrench by any measure of the word.

You have to take it out of the bottom. There are about 8 - 7mm screws that hold in a kick panel and you have to take the 4 bolts that hold the other panel off too. There is one bolt about 10-12" up there. Remove that and it pulls right out of the bottom of the car. You'll need to be on ramps to do this.
