Why woul dyou want to waste your money on an Eclipse engine? It can be done. But it's extremely expensive and since the Eclipse 420a is backwards it'd cost a lot of money to rework everything. It's just not worth it.

Now, with that said. What engine do you have? DOHC, SOHC? Is it manual or automatic?

You can easily adapt a turbo to the engine you do have and it'd be more cost effective and cheaper rather than buying a different engine all together and then trying to get it to fit your car.

You've got several options for turbos. Hahns Racecraft and Chill Factory. Both are very good. HRC is the one most people buy but the CF is just as good if not better. I'm kind of biased since I've got a lot of CF stuff.

The other option you've got is to put together your own turbo. It's probably one of the cheapest ways to build a turbo. I 've got a buddy who built his own kit for $800. I've spent the last 2 years putting together a kit of my own and have spent about $2k.

The second gen non turbo motor is the same as the dohc neon motor except the head is reversed so the exhaust comes out the front.

I think he was asking if just an eclipse turbo would fit. If you get the hahns racecraft turbo fit it comes with a mitsubishi turbo.

But my advice would to be just get the chillfactor kit it comes with everything but the engine.

What is this word? pitention

Did you mean potential?

If so you are poorly informed. The SOHC has a lot of potential. As does an ATX transmission.

My Neon is a SOHC, has 140K on it and has an automatic transmission.

My Neon is getting a turbo put on it's SOHC engine and has a semi-race-built automatic transmission (I've got to finish it). Too bad you don't have the knowledge of what your engines potential is.

yes i ment potential...So you think you can succesfully put turbo on a neon with 100k or more? head gaskets usually go at like 70 and were over that you think that if we puch the engine its going to blow one? BTW Why would you Put turbo but not Dohc it first

I don't think. I know you can put a turbo on a SOHC with high miles without any problems. An HG will only go if there are problems and if it hasn't already been done.

Why wouldn't I put a turbo on a SOHC? I'm sorry but you are really misinformed on SOHC's. A SOHC has the same potential as a DOHC if not more. A SOHC is cheaper to build up and produces more power quicker than a DOHC. Both are very good engines. I know quite a few people who've chosen SOHC's over DOHC's for turbo's.

And just a little information, an ATX is more suited for a turbo than a MTX.

Crazy's right In my opinion the best set up for a turbo is a SOHC ATX. I am sure it has been done, but I don't think I have even heard of anyone on here that did a DOHC turbo. As for which turbo its a toss up HRC or Chill Factory. Build your own and you better do some reasearch and know what you are doing. Put to big of a turbo and it won't spool till 5000 rpm, to small and no boost.

That too big of a turbo and no spooling till 5K is incorrect too. It'll spool. It'll just be slower you'll still generate power but unlike a mid-size turbo it'll be a little later. Now, if it's on an ATX since the RPMs are generally higher on an ATX it'll generate power much quicker.

You don't want a tiny turbo like a 13 or 14 because it'll generate a lot of heat which translates into a lot of interior engine modification and serious cooling like a large intercooler. You typically want to get a mid to larger turbo. The larger you go the less major modifications to your engine you'll have to make. A larger turbo is generally better at heat disapation than a tiny one. Which is why turbos from Elcipses and earlier Chrysler cars are not used. They are too small. However the Elcipse one is larger than an early Chrysler turbo.

A good size to get is a 16 (T3-T4) series turbo.

I've currently got a Super 16. It's a pretty large turbo eventually I'd like to get a 20 but for now the Super 16 is good.
