I have a neon and im proud of my 95 highline...now what can i do i want it to be a quick car i wanted to put an eclipse engine in ppl say no then eclipse turbo ppl say no WHAT SHOULD I DO...lol please what engine form another car can i use or what can i do CHEEP in this department i can get engines from jyds

 

Ok first of all the Elcipse engine really isn't any better than a Neon engine. All it really is is a glorified Neon engine. So, with that said I'm gonna have to say forget about the Eclipse engine. You won't gain anything from it. And it'll cost more to swap that in than it would a 2.4 from a Stratus.

And again, with that said. If you are hard up to swap motors then get a 2.4 from a Stratus, PT Cruiser or one of the many other Chrysler cars that come with a 2.4. A 2.4 swap is what has been done to a Neon and it works. The parts are readily available, there are How-To's up the wazoo and there are many people that can help with a 2.4 swap. An Eclipse 2.0 swap is stupid. And the reason why people tell you no is because it's technically only beed done twice. The first time failed horribly the second time isn't quite done yet. And again, you won't gain much if anything from the Eclipse engine.

Second, are you manual or automatic? I'm sure I've asked you this before but it really helps. There are mods for both. Just one has more options than the other in terms of building up.

Third, you want speed. uickest and cheapest way to do that is to buy a turbo. Either a HRC, Chill Factory or a DIY BIY kit.

Engine Swap = 2.4

 

2.4 Stratis or Pt i didnt thin kabout that thats a sick idea they have a turbo charged pt right? oh god to find one of those...its an automatic and the engoine has 96 thousand on it so id like to swap it

 

oh yea sry i forgot any idea where i can find some how-tos and would i need to change the trans with the 2.4? if i did id just make it a stick

 

Neons.org has a plethora of How-Tos for the swap. You can make the automatic work with the 2.4 there's no need to swap to an MTX. but then again, I'm biased. I've learned a lot about ATX's and have built mine up.

Yeah he said about everything there was to say. Except personally I would stick with the sohc and throw a turbo on it and build the tranny. Nothin like a 13 sec underdog motor with an automatic.

 

hmm idk i like the 2.4 idea better if i were to do the sohc one id have to get another one anywaqys mine has 97 thousan don it and idk if it would hold turbo id hate to wastethe money on a turbo blow it then not be able to get another engine i think maybe il look for a turbo pt or a 2.4 sratus if i did the stratis would i be able to use some other cars turbo and manifold instead of dropping a grand on a turbo?...by the way thanks alot

97k is nothing Crazy squee has I believe 140k and he is going turbo right now. I have 192k on my altima and I plan on going turbo in a year or so.
