Nah for what it is the chill factor is a hell of a deal. You neon guys are lucky that way cause for my altima the only kit availble is 4500 and it doesn't come with everything you need (you end up spending another grand or so to get running) not to mention quality sucks so, for what you are getting 3500 is a sweet price.

No, I could piece somethin together for my neon for $1500, maybe $2000, but you are right the HRC and chill factory are "proven". Thats why I'm gonna go with one or the other when I get that far.

Yeah you could peice something together but what is often forgotten when people add up stuff to do that is how to control the air fuel ratio as in standalone or piggy back systems. The chill factor kit comes with a controler (not sure if the HRC does or not) so its a complete setup. You have absolutly everthing to get the car up and running. But yes they are proven and both of them are damn nice kits that will make a rocket out of any neon.

Again, you don't necessarily need an ignition such as a piggyback or standalone for a turbo. I haven't planned on getting one for my car. It's a nice thing to have especially if youa re going to run high boost and race the car but if it's mainly going to be a street/road car it's not necessary. I've designed my entire turbo around not having one and I know quite a few guys who don't have one either. Eventually will I upgrade? Probably, but I don't need one.

I'm probbaly gonna get a chill factory this winter and have it on for spring, thats if I don't get the free porshe. I love my neon, but for a go fast car an 84 porshe is a better car to put a turbo on.

There's an excellent book that just came out titled "The Gold Plated Porsche" that covers working on the older models quite well....and points out a lot of the "quirks" with the different models....
