RE: whos the fastest...
Well, MSN Auto's show's the Dodge SRT-4 (230hp) running a 14.48 in the 1/4 mile. Sound's about right to me. So if any of you are pulling a 14, then wow. I bet that the MSN thing is accurate too, but maybe I'm just too confident in them. Dunno what my neon would run, but I'm feeling about a 17. It's only pumpin out about 140 horses max. It's funny living in a small town as I do, my car is considered fast here, as to in a larger place it's gma's van.

RE: whos the fastest...
Hey there is a Metro in Seattle that runs 10s, or was that a Swift...
Anyway, it was made for the salt flat contests, and had a top speed of around 150 mph. It was in Sport Compact Car a few months ago.
A low 14s on street tires in a first gen. is nothing special. Just check out some of the times on www.neons.org
It's not uncommon to see low 13 runs on 1st gens all motor. And don't even get me started on a 1st gen with the 2.4 swap. Last year I saw one of thoughs run with only I/H/E, and pulled a high 13.
There is a big difference between the 2dr. DOHC 1st gens. and the 4dr. SOHC 3rd gens. 1st gen weigh less and had more power out of the DOHC of the newer Neons, excluding the SRT-4. Not only that, but a stock MTX 2dr. R/T does a 15.4-15.8 stock depending on driver.
As far as a slip goes, they're not something I hold on to for a long time. I won't have another one until next race season starts. Here in Oregon, that will be around late March early April depending on the weather. But it will be pointless by that time any way since I'm going 2.4 in a month. However, I will posting pictures of the swap if any are interested.
