Default EGR Valve Movement

Sup guys, I was just wondering how much should the valve stem move on the EGR valve when vaccum is applied. I'm checking mine cause i want to freaking figure out this fuel richness problem. SO I did the vaccum test and I saw it move so slightly that it was hardly noticeable, but the engine did try to stall out. I don't know if maybe a little piece of carbon is keeping it slighty open or something. And if anyone has experienced a fuel richness problem and has gotten it solved, PLEASE tell me. I'm going literally nuts. [&:]

Oh yeh I was also wondering if anyone had a monza cat-back system installed and if they like it and what not. I was thinking of getting it.

That's the same exhaust system as Pacesetter. Pacesetter is a Monza exhaust system. Look at www.howellautomotive.com and Modern Performance. There are a few posts that were just written about the Pacesetter/Monza exhaust system. Check the other posts to get more info.

To answer your question, I have the Pacesetter/Monza exhaust system. It sounds great but bad craftsmanship. I wrote more about it in the other posts along with the other people.

Just in case you didn't know. Check to get different quotes along with your website. I've had better experience with Modern Performance though.[&:]

Mish, what codes are you throwing? It might not be an EGR problem.

Ok, stop taking it to that dealer. They are morons.

11 = Timing belt skipped more than 1 tooth.

52 = Fuel system running rich.

First things first, replace the timing belt. If its been replaced then tear iut all apart and make sure its still in time. Ehich I doubt it is and readjust it so that it is in time. Neons can be 8º off of time before they start smashing valves so you can theoretically run the car out of time until then, of course I wouldn't recommend it because it runs like crap.

As for the car running rich it could be any number of things. If I were you I'd start out with the simple stuff, tune-up things of that nature. Clean teh TB, fuel injectors, replace the spark plugs. I'd check the EGR valve make sure thats functioning properly, maybe replace the O2 sensors.

YOu can reset the PCM yourself but you are going to have to disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable for at least an hour.
