that word be a good start, and the bestthing u could do is do a port and polish on the head, along with a big came and valves, and valvesprings..... that u would see the best power range out of it..

I would start with a cai, new header, bored out tb, and lightened pulleys.

Weight reduction? I see this floating around a lot. Since when was a neon heavy? It is probably just my point of view, but when you get faster, that will make traction an issue, and having weight helps with that. That is why the performance model of a car is heavier than the base. There are other ways to address the issue ( like going with a 2.4L) but you seem like you are looking for cheap power. Most are any way.

1.Look for an Iceman intake, or make a Cold Air Intake or CAI from a 3.0L chrysler car. There are links around.

2. Look on ebay for a Megan under driver pulley for the crank shaft. This will free up some horsepower. There are many different brands. I went with the Af/x since I got a good deal on it, but I hear the TTI udp is the best. By how much who knows, and i doubt it is worth the cost. Could be wrong though.

3. Dump the stock manifold and get a header. What kind? A Long Tube Header or a mid length? What to buy? I went with this:

Stainless steel means it never rusts, plus I had waned it for years. I made a huge difference in my neon, and a 1/3 the cost of most dohc lth's. Mine was $86 shipped and took a week to arrive.

There is more but keep in mind your suspension and brakes are what keeps that power under control. Address them first is my advice.

you've obviously never ridden in a weight reduxed car. A buddy of mine has a dohc 1g all motor car that dynod 50 more ponies than my all motor car. He also has an r/t tranny and I have a 3:55. He gutted about 300 lbs out of the car and he gets WAY better traction off the line now. This is an even bigger factoron a FWD car that is "dragging" weight rather than pushing it. Not to mention...every bit you can loose increases your power to weight ratio! What difference does it make that a neon is already light.
