u can do some adjusting by backing up and hitting your brakes with some repetition... it won't be alot but it should help

Yeah I tried that with mine it did help a little, maybe its just the neon, I am used to a car that if I am going in a straight line and I pull the e-brake the tires will both lock up, mine just squeaks and squeals and slowly comes to a stop. And yes the pads and drums are fine.

My boyfriend keeps telling me this. What does this do and how does this work.

Does anyone know how to adjust the back breaks, so they do grab a little more. I realize front does 80+%, but just had the boyfriend change break pads, front warn considerably, back almost look new. He is just not sure how much to tweek them. Any advise.

you got a Durango ?? if so your kinda in the wrong forum you need to go to the Durango forums out on the main page... i don't know any thing about ttem.. they might be auto adjusting they might not be. usually u just turn it until you can't pull the rotor off by hand and that should be tight enough and they adjust the rest of the way... if im not mistaken.

She can post where ever she wants!

Rear brakes can be adjusted with the wheel off. there is a small opening on the back of the backing plate. There is a small adjuster with teeth on it right behind it.
using a screw driver, the idea is to rotate the teeth (at very small intervals) thus adjusting SMALL amounts of pressure onto the drum.

It 's better to have someone who has done it before there to help you, because over adjustment will destroy your brakes and drums.

yea my back brakes always worked good. then i changed them and they dont work for shi*. i know how to adjust them but i though they do it automaticly. If i pull the e-brake it will hold the car but if i gas it then the car will pull away unless its wet out lol.

i tried adjusting mine for almost a half an hour driving in reverse and pulling the ebrake.... you name it i did it.... i used every trick there is for tightening up the auto adjusting brakes... i self adjusted them some not alot..... but still no success..... my only conclusion is "a neon doesn't have enough power stock to do a burnout" lol

I have since tried doing a burnout. Its not that hard to do at all, I can do it without the ebrake at all.
