I disagree. The stock exhaust system on a Neon is 2 inches. My Pacesetter is 2.5 in. and it is larger than my stock system I took off. Borla cat-back system is 2 1/4; why would Borla and all the other exhaust systems go smaller? Why would they make aftermarket exhausts to OPEN UP the exhaust flow and make the tubes smaller? It makes no sense to go from a stock 2.5 to 2 1/4 (Borla) or 2.5 Pacesetter.
I think u made a mistake. When I took off my stock system and put the Pacesetter cat-back on at Midas, they had to bend a little piece on the frame around the back wheel area b/c the 2.5 inch Pacesetter exhaust was larger than stock. My pipes were rubbing against the frame and it was vibrating. That's fixed though. If u don't believe Pacesetter is 2.5 look.

I believe the stock SRT-4 exhaust is 2.5.[&:]

To elric62285

Here is a discription from Modern Performance of the Borla cat-back exhaust of the 2000-up Neons.

BORLA:

2.25 inch piping (.25 larger than stock) Direct fitment, no cutting, welding or modifications needed Stainless steel piping, mufflers, and polished stainless tip. Comes with stainless steel clamps.
World renown Borla build quality, awesome deep tone, and about 20-30% louder than stock Limited lifetime warranty from Borla

Like I said; .25 larger than stock which is 2.25 or 2 1/4 [&:]

The Pacesetter is 2.5 inch

I got that information from Modern Performance. As u see it says .25 larger than stock which = 2 1/4.

What are there diff. exhaust sizes for diff year Neons? Why do so many people disagree ? Look at the Modern Performance website. Like I said, that information was based on the 2000-up Neons.

If you look at the cats and stuff, they offer them in 2 1/4" and 2 1/2". no 2"

Ok, im a bit confused with all this different info...Im definetly going to get the borla dual cat exhaust, so heres the thing, if the stock cat is 2 1/4 and the borla comes in 2.5 will it all fit right? will there be some power taken away due to the size difference? it says on modern that it will all fit fine with no other purchases needed...is this true?

At Modern Performance the re-placement cat converter is 2 1/4 under the 2000-up Neons.
When I look at their description of the Borla cat-back exhaust, it says:

2.25 inch piping (.25 larger than stock) Direct fitment, no cutting, welding or modifications needed Stainless steel piping, mufflers, and polished stainless tip. Comes with stainless steel clamps.

When I look at both of their descriptions I assume the cat-converter is larger than the STOCK cat-back system (b/c Borla's description is 2.25 inch piping >>>>>(.25 larger than stock)<<<<<.

NeonDriver01; the Borla cat-back comes with 2.25 (2 1/4) pipes.

Look at www.modernperformance.com
All the info is there written as I stated. Just look at it[&:]

stock piping on any neon except srt is 2 inches srt-4 is 2.5 because it's turbom and needs more air flow out stick with 2.25 for best hp gains and right amount of back pressure i lost hp when i installed 2.5 in piping but gained tremendous sound but hp is more inportant than souns plus my car sounds like a beast with the way it's set right now

Depending on the year the neon is either 2 1/4" or 2 1/2". I have a 1st gen that is 2 1/2" piping stock. Some of the 2nd gens are either 2 1/4" or 2 1/2".

1. I asked if there are different size exhaust for diff year Neons (stock) and nobody answered[:@].

2. I still think you're wrong. U said some of the 2nd year Neons have 2 1/4 or 2 1/2. Modern Performance says under the Borla Cat-back system the stock is 2". They said the Borla cat-back'size is 2.25 which is 2 1/4 (.25 larger than stock).

U all said the stock engines were the same for the 1st gen Neons and the 2nd, why would they change the exhaust size?
LOOK AT MODERN PERFORMANCE.
