Is anyone surprised by this?

 

Thats because they have so many crumple points

 

Does not shock me at all - Neons are small cars to others in crashes - Big car wins over small car ... etc.....

 

In relation to getting a Neon - I knew there was a safety factor involved with owning a smaller car .....

 

a celica is smaller then a neon but they are safer..... are they not ?

Yeah, but they are notorious as poor performers in the tests. I do agree with the small car theory to some degree, but volvo and other do make safe cars. Maybe DC should look at offering a bit safer.

The scary thing is, the first gens. were even worse than the second gens tested here. I loved my first gen too.

 

I got into an accident last week. I was doing about 5 mphs and she was doing about the same, and she hit me in the passenger side front corner. The horn is shot, the fender crunched up,couldn't open the passenger side door. the side marker light is in half and the bumper cover is damaged and needs to be rpelaced. Just think, any faster, I probably would have had it towed away.

 

I was debating on wether or not to install the Nascar style side bars,
I have wrecked once while racing and it did fair amount of damage -
After seeing it on the news - I will definately put the Nascar Style side
bars in my New Neon - and thinking about retro fitting my 1st Gen.

that test they actually did was above the national safety test limit. they did that because they wanted to see how the cars faired in a worse crash cuz as some of you might see on the news crashes with suv's and truck are becoming more and more. i don't think that will be put into affect on any up coming cars and most likely won't affect the neons any so i would be to worried.... as the saying goes "let Chevy deal with it" [sm=yeahsmile.gif]
