my car shocks me everytime i get done driving and get out, and put my hand on the door to close it. anybody ever have this to happen, and what might be causing it??

 

Mine does the same thing. I am not quite sure why, but its not a big deal.

 

there is actually nothing wrong its just static build up... you will get it every so often.. i heard rumors it can depend on weather conditions but i don't think that is proven.. if its just a little static shock thats normal.. but i mean if your getting zapped like its live current you might have a hot wire touching the metal some where but thats a rare case.

 

Exactly. Thats all it is. It happens to me every so often as well.

 

Yeah, you can get checked on anything with metal. LMAO I get shocked on my screen door all the time.

 

Yeah, it is normal static electicity. You will notice it more in dryer weather. This is the 1st car that I have had that did it. I can understand the static thing, but why no other car that I have had.

 

No that someone mentions it, I notice it more with my neon than any other car I've ever owned. You would think I would be use to it by now, but it still startles the hell out of me. oh well, the price we pay to have a neon I guess

 

It happens to me pretty often w/ my Neon (I'm used to it). I can detail my car and everything and it still shocks me. It doesn't normally happen w/ the other cars I drive. It doesn't bother me though.

 

watch out when u fill gas.. i've heard stories about people gettin a shock from there car and there fuel lights on fire. Never been shocked by my car.

 

sorta old thread but my mom said she heard on oprah (yeah.. of all places lol) that in cars with cloth seats they are known to do that and when you get out to touch the dash (i think thast wahst she said) b4 you touch the metal of your car to ground the the electricity cause of the whole gass thing
