Why is it that these old farts have nothing better to do than complain out how "fast" you are going...This guy up the road from me had the ***** to bitch at me as I came around a bend - in complete control, never out of my lane, and no faster than the posted speed limit - I was really tempted to stop and say something but I figured that would end up with the police at my doorstep seen as how I am 24 and always wrong in the eyes of the law, so I restrained myself....I even looked at my speedo as he was yelling and shaking his fist - a blistering 30 mph in a 30 mph zone!! granted I never really lost any speed around the corner but wtf....Just cus I actually drive my car instead of having a bunch of em sitting around looking pretty and then have the nerve to get on my *** when I could be doin a hell of a lot worse - I drive my car much much harder than that every weekend...I mean I could give him a good show and give it a scandanavian flick, get completely sideways using both lanes, and go slower than I was and still be going too "fast" ...if I took the corner way too hot and pushed off into his lawn or the other lane I could see the reason to be concerned...I also get a lot of flack for heel and toe downshifting - apparantly the "blip" of the throttle and getting down thru 2 gears faster than most ppl shift down one gives the illusion of speed, hell I dunno

i usualy drive 5-10 over and they drive 20 under... difference 25 - 30... no wonder it seems like we drive fast.... even if we drive the speed limit its still 20 mph faster than them

OP- the person you describe sounds JUST like my mom. She's only 53 but she's one of those 'sunday drivers' who gets pissed if people don't drive exactly like she does & she bitches constantly about my driving.

When I told her that my new car(05 Neon SXT) was a manual, she said "you can't drive a stick!", assuming that just b/c she can't drive a stick, then I can't do it either. It doesn't matter that I've been able to drive one since I was 18, and that everyone in the family besides her can drive a manual also.

I haven't gotten any kind of ticket in damn near 3 years, but every time she rides with me(which is RARE, lol) she scares the bejezus out of me with her constant screeching. "Oh my GOD KRIS, SLOW DOWN!!!!!) I'll be going like maybe 5 over the limit & she'll say stuff like that.

Also , I take off too fast according to her. Like a "bat out of hell". I drive pretty easy to conserve fuel most of the time, so I shift into 2nd around 15mph. It takes me about 1-2 seconds to get up to that speed driving in town, and that's reckless driving according to her. She tells me I 'show off' too much. I don't see how I can drive like a show off in a stock 4 cylinder neon. Now maybe when I get all the things done to it that I'm planning to do, then she'll be right...

I can't tell you how many times her "advice" has almost CAUSED me to wreck b/c she'll seriously scream in my ear out of nowhere when I'm driving & scare the crap out of me. She does the same thing to my dad & it drives him nuts too.
