Quick stereo question
I'm in an 04 SXT and the previous owner had to have had a stereo hooked up because all the wires were ran to the trunk. So I stuck my Kenwood amp and my Xplode sub in there and nothing. The sub won't power. Hooked it up to my friends car and it runs no problem. My best guess is that the ground used is not working. We rigged the ground up using some speaker wire as a temp solution... and we ran it to a spot under the carpet just behind the right taillight because it was bare metal, but even that seemed to fail, any other ideas for good grounds?
well for your amp to power on you need 1 power wire hooked up, 1 ground wire hooked up and 1 remote turn on wire hooked up to the amp ( comes from the back of your cd player, usually the power antenna wire, blue wire or a blue with a wite stripe.) if your amp is hooked up correctly it may be the power wire is unhooked at the battery or it may have a blown or missing ( pulled out) fuse.
If you hook up the remote wire to the power antenna wire, your amp will only turn on when you turn your radio to the AM/FM tuner. Check the fuse in the power wire, it should be located under the hood. The solid blue wire on radios are typically the antenna lead, so look for the blue w/ white. Hope this helps.
if you hook you remote power wire to your power antenna wire you will have power to you amp whenever the car is on, assuming that you have your stereo on. i'me absolutely shure about this because i have two pioneer amps hooked up this way, and yes they both work when the car is on and not "just when you turn your radio to the AM/FM tuner".

ok let me ask you this....do you have an aftermarker head unit???? becuase if you dont you will need i forgot what there called but you can hook your rear speakers up to it and it basically powers off of your speakers.....it doesnt sound as good as if you would have an aftermarket head unit but itll put a little more thump in your ride..
