Default Engine Swap

My buddy just bought a '95 Neon SOHC. It has 148,000 miles on it. It's prolly going to need an engine swap. Now the question: will a lets say SOHC from a 2000 neon work/ fit in the '95?

Pretty sure its all the same block and head. You will need to swap the sensors, but its the same.

Should swap in fine. Besides a few of the sensors (biggest problems will be IAT/MAP and fuel injectors), you'll need to swap over the EGR system from the '95 since the 2nd gens don't have it. The 2000 head should be ported for it, but blocked off... You'll have to use your 1st gen intake mani, which is where the other end of the EGR system connects. Keep the '95 wiring harness and PCM.

Best of luck!

I have just finished doing that to my 95.The motors are the same from 95-03,but the wiring harness is different.I had to swap all sensors on the engine to fit the 95 about 1 hour job.The only part that i could not swap was the a/c compressor b/c the belts are different from the 95 and the 2000,I just spliced a new plug on the 2000 compressor to fit the '95 harness. The motor mounts are different but the '95 mounts will bolt up to the '00 with no problem. This sounds like alot of work but it's not really, just swap everything over with the motor on engine stand and it is no problem.Just be careful with the sensors, I broke the crankshaft position sensor and cost me $130.00 to replace it .
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
