Default CAI questions... lots of 'em

Alright, i'll start off by saying, i just got a 1995 DOHC 5-Speed Neon (Plymouth). The first mod I am going to do is a new CAI. I have found that the only ones out there by AEM are for 1995 DOHC 5-speed WITHOUT ABS, i CAN NOT find one for a '95 with ABS (by AEM). So after looking for hours and hours, i decided to look for something other than AEM, let's start with APC... Are they good quality? They seem to be considerably cheaper than most AEM's I've seen. So anyway, looking at APC, i found one for 1995 DOHC neon, it didn't say anything about having or not having ABS. Is this just a mistype, forgetting the ABS part, or does it not matter on APC's? Thanks for any input, or suggestions on other manufacturers!

Nio

ok, on the 95 it DOES NOT MATTER if your car has ABS or not, the intake is the same
AEM APC and all that crap on ebay, all of those CAI's take Air from over the exhaust manifold, so its nice and hot

the one that I feel is the best is the ICEMAN, yeah its plastic, BUT it gets its air from almost under the bumper, the filter its almost 6 inches off the ground. its will cost you about $200 but it is worth every penny paid

ABS is anti-lock brake system, that has nothing to do with your intake.

hey

thanks for the replies, yes i know what ABS is, lol. but i didnt know if the neons manufactured with ABS were made different in the engine bay or something. why would the companies say without ABS.. kinda confusing.

Aricjm15: so you're saying the AEM's aren't any better than an ICEMAN? i was considering the ICEMAN at first, but when i saw the AEM's i thought it was better because it wasn't plastic. is there any chance of it cracking or anything? thanks for any replies.

no
the ICEMAN is better than the AEM
the AEM gets its air from directly above the exhaust manifold where it is nice and hot

the ICEMAN comes to the front of the engine bay and gets its air from under the batery box

Get the Iceman or Mopar Performance CAI, they are the exact same since both are made be Iceman. This will give you the best possible performance.

well just to follow up on this, i've been trying to get my a/c fixed, fixed my leaky trunk, replaced headlights/gauge faces/gauge bezel/pedal covers, and a couple other things but i am now going to order the ICEMAN CAI. the question i had about the CAI the first time was a kinda obvious answer, but this one i am even more confused on. http://www.jcwsportcompact.com/autop...X/appId-276815 on that link, it says that it is competition only. this is a daily driver (will be in 6 months, when i get my license), so it will not be a comp. only car. will it still work?
