Default Debadged

Well like the subject says I debadged my neon tonight. I took off the side moldings, dodge, neon, and sxt badges. It looks very clean now. I especially wanted to get rid of the side moldings, it makes the side of the car look smooth, kinda gives it an extra curve. I'll try and post some pics of it later this week when I can get ahold of a digital camera. I have a question for those that have done this, I still have a little bit of residue left from the glue. You can't see it unless you look hard, but its there. Is there anything that will take this off, or will it go away with more washing?

Try some Goop Off. It is a citrus based adhesive remover that won't hurt the paint.

You can use some fishing line and weasel it in there and peel up a corner. Then you can just pull up the letters. Its rather easy actually, just getting the adhesive off is the tough part.[:@]

That's what the Goop Off and Goo Gone are for. I've used both and they both work great for removing adhesive residues.

I just got done doing this on my 98 looks good, I went as far as to take off the Ram emblem on my hood. I used a small dulled putty knife and acitone *dunno how its spelled* knife to lift up the decals and acitone for the sticky stuff. Worked slick.

I would say easier to take off a new car. But think about this if you're going to take it off a old car, chances are the paint underneath the letters is not the same color as the rest of your car (due to the sun fading the paint). So if you're going to debadge your car/truck I would do it soon after its new so you can't see where the letters/badges were.
