Default difference of '95 models

I am wondering how in the world i can tell WHAT kind of neon i have, ACR, R/T, Sport, Baseline... If it helps, it is a 1995 Plymouth DOHC 5-speed, NYG paint (NitroYellowGreen). If anyone could help, it would be appreciated. i bought this car used, it came with no decals or emblems such as "plymouth" the plymouth emblem, sport, R/T, or anything such as that. Thanks

If it has absolutely no options except a heater, it is most likely an ACR which is the ultimate for performance. The ACR has Koni adjustable shocks, no radio, no A/C, no power options at all, manual steering and the VIN # will decode everything you need to know about it. It cannot be an R/T, because the R/T was only available from the 1998 model year and up. The Sports usually have an emblem or decal saying so. If it has a few options and doesn't say Sport, then it is most likely a Highline.

71RoadRunner: Thanks, i am REAL confused about this no emblem stuff... the guy i bought it from said that he never had it painted green, it came that way. only thing he did was the stripes... I used an online VIN decoder for a quick answer on it, and it showed it as a Sport model. I'm trying to figure out how it could be a sport, if there are no emblems. Secondly, there are no holes or marks from where the emblems are supposed to be. i am guessing that when the stripes were put on, he had the emblems removed? thanks.

EDIT: lvd2340 PM'ed me and is a dealer, he is gonna check out my VIN to make sure it's a sport.

I thought about including this info in the previous post, but I didn't want to confuse you with it. All ACR, R/T, Sport, Expresso and Highline models will basically decode as a Highline model. My R/T was indeed an R/T, but on my insurance statement and insurance card it simply listed it as a Neon Highline. It also listed my Daytona Shelby Z's as just Daytonas and my Roadrunner as simply a Satellite. You have to really know what exactly to look for in the VIN. In my Roadrunner you have to look for the 2nd digit, it tells which version of the Satellite body it is Sebring, Roadrunner or GTX. In this example mine is an M which stands for medium price class, this is the Roadrunners code. The GTX is S which is special and the Sebring is H for high price class. Newer cars VIN #'s are more complex, but it is still done about the same way. This may give you the info you seek, it is straight from Dodge and is a recall check done with the last 8 digits of your VIN and it gives the vehicle info as well, here's the link to it: http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/...m%28%27R%27%29

My NYG shows up as the same as yours "a Plymouth Neon 2 Door Sedan."

Your not alone, it said the same about my R/T, I dug up the VIN on the paperwork on it and ran it through. My SRT-4 lists as an SRT-4 on there though, that's why I thought it might work for you, oh well.[:@] I have your answer this time though, click on this link for your answer: http://www.neon-owners.org/neon/tech...ndecoding.html

Good find roadrunner, it is infact a sport! now I just wonder if it is even a NYG or not, or if it was just repainted the same color before the stripes were put on. (since the logos and emblems are not there) Thanks again.

Not a problem, glad to be of help.[sm=smiley2.gif] Cars use to have fender tags that had the codes of every single thing about the car, but I have yet to see one on a newer car. It would give everything including interior and exterior paint/color codes. To bad they don't now, at least not that I have found.[sm=smiley13.gif]
