Default NGC....Know anything?

Anyone here know anything about the so-called next generation computer (NGC) that is in the +03 Neons. From my reading on neons.org it supposedly limits your peak power. I'm not sure how it could do that, adjust air flow, timing, spark, etc? I don't know really. I'm just trying to understand it some, since I haven't seen any aftermarket pcms for +03's. Info appreciated.

I saw the exact same thing and it reallllllllllly pissed me off[:@]

I have an 04 SXT like yourself and i was really looking forward to doing some upgrading to the engine in the future. but im not going to spend money if it gives you no more performance. Hopefully someone will figure out a replacement or a way to bypass that pile of garbage

If DCx would just go back to making 1st gens the world would be a better place. There are more options for a 1st gen.

Don't the SRT4's have the same type of thing in them where it puts a limit on the peak HP??? Granted it will be a litttle different than my neon, but how are some of the SRT4 guys making such crazy numbers? I'm guessing Dodge put this stupid computer in to prevent people from making lots more power to keep the number of warranty claims down. My buddy says he knows a way to tweak it/work around it or with it, but time will tell. I really don't have any noteable engine mods so I don't know whether to believe this or not. But from what I've seen it certainly looks like the computer does limit HP for sure.

I am wondering why they don't come up with a programmer like they do with Hypertech programmers. Which they use for the chevy trucks ford I think as well and dodge trucks.

Or is it that these computers on our cars are not capable of being reprogrammed through the ODBC II connector?

Theres a re large debate on that. I know several guys who have done extensive research on the neon pcms and they have come to the conclusion that the programs are encrypted so they can not be altered dramatically. They ahve been working on a program for the past 3 or so years but nothing has surfaced just yet.

The PCM's can be reprogrammed slightly using the programer but the problem is no one is willing to spend $5k on the programer to do so.

You should see the size of the programmer, it's the size of the car.

The Stage 1 PCM for the SRT-4 totally changes the way your engine responds to your right foot.....I was amazed at the amount of air intake and boost I was getting at only part throttle....those PCM/computers can make the difference between night and day.
We're talking "fast" versus "ultra fast"!!![sm=smiley20.gif]

the only other option I could think of is a full standalone system. They should make one.
