I hear you. Thats what I opted for. I think can fit in some 6 1/2s but you will have to make new holes in the door if you don't have the kit. I opted for the kit with some inexpensive but better sounding Blaupunkts.

If your budget's as tight as mine, I'd suggest you get the new head unit first. If your speakers aren't blown the may sound better than you think they do. I've got an '04 SXT and my son has an '04 SRT-4 both cars had the standard factory stereo system. My son replaced his factory head unit with some mega buck Pioneer Premier head unit and it made a really big difference. Speakers are no longer on my short list!
You would be even more amazed at the difference set of high quality speakers will make then if you think the deck made that much difference wait till you get speakers. Once you get expensive speakers you will never go back.

Hello fellow Neon drivers[8D]....just came across this forum so I figured I'd sign up and ask you smart people my question.

I'm looking at getting new front speakers for my 97 and thanks to this thread I now know that basically any speakers I get are going to require some slight modification and that I will more then likey go with 6 1/2" speakers. My question now is what depth of speaker can the Neon doors accomodate? I was looking at some Type-R's but wanted to make sure they would fit before I considered getting them.

Thanks.

I looked there already....but maybe I'm not going to the right place. I went to the "what fits my car" thing and it gave me a list of speakers...but the Type-R's are not on there as it seems they don't even carry them....I'm not sure what other speakers from the list are as deep as the Type-R's.

If someone can tell me if the Type-R's with a depth of 70mm fit in the Neon without trouble that would be great.
