Check your exhaust manifold my brother-in-law had a similar problem turned out that his manifold was cracked.
Does "checking it " simply mean just looking at it for obvious cracks, or are you hearing some sort of exhaust leak from it while the truck is running?
essentialy. . .you would see exhaust shooting out if there was a hole

If the manifold was cracked and he was loosing boost wouldn't he be smoking? I'd check that fuel pressure...a new injector pump is expensive.
