Cracked Window
well heres the deal, a family member locked my keys in my truck. So I called my old roommate(a deputy sheriff) cause he has tool to open it up. We got it unlocked then the window cracked, its now about 10inchs.I really dont want to tell the insurance company that, I figured around 500 for a window. Havent even had it a week yet, nice.
Call around body shops in the local area. Most can get the window within 2-3 days and they usually cost less than you think. Tell them that it's not for insurance but it's coming out of your pocket, amazing how much difference that makes! Seen most makes and models replaced for $110-175, inc labor.
dont have to tell em squat!
you;;"hello? ins company?? yea, i have a broken window...my policy cover it??? OH YEA!! WOO WHOOO!
thanks! Ill call the glass guy!!"
that easy. tell them only what they NEED to know. ....broken window, am I covered?
had my windshield replaced in the 93 recently due to an accident of sorts from inside the cab. my wife was worried that theyd question why it was broken from in to out. the glass guys can care less.

It should be around 465.00 just replaced the same window on my 2006 QC make sure that they use the same window manufacture as in the OE equipment. This is because the windows are laminated glass similar to the windshield.
I read a thread on DTR where a lot of guys with '07s were having problems with the side glass windows just cracking for no reason at all. Actually if you look at the windows on the trucks when they roll up you can see when they get to the top they press out really hard and it looks as though they are in a bind. I cringe every time I roll my windows up waiting for a crak to appear. Those guys on dtr had the dealer install new glass for no charge under a warranty claim. If I were you I'd take it to the dealer and have them install new glass for nothing as a warranty issue and not mention the locking the keys up thing. The design is flawed and I'd be willing to bet your dealer's seen this problem before and will probably replace your window no questions asked. Well, you might have to complain a little. You could go dredge that thread up at dtr, print it out, and show that to them too..
