Default 2008 Ford 6.4 Blows

Hey Guys,
Had the chance to drive a '08 Super Duty w/the 6.4 and all I have to say is that it sucks. I had the pedal pushed through the floor board and it felt like I was driving one with a 5.4 gasser. Not impressed at all. One day before I drove the Ford I drove an '06 Cummins 6spd and the Dodge would blow the doors off the Ford. I haven't purchased a truck yet but my mind is settled on Cummins. Just trying to save up the jack to get one. Anyway just thought you guys would like to hear this.

I actually snapped a few pics yesterday of the rediculous exhaust on that POS. I was dropping my little econo-box, commuter car Ford Focus off at the dealer to get a rattle fixed and I figured I'd stroll over and take a peek at this thing.

HOLY CHRI$T!! There are heat shields everywhere. There is even a heat shield AROUND the spare tire. I looked at all the junk running up to the engine......there must be 200 - 300 lbs of exhaust junk on this thing. There are air inlets all over it after the DPF. It's rediculous. Forget taking this thing into a dry field, this a fire hazard waiting to happen....never mind the flame thrower video.

As soon as I get my friggin cell phone to download these pics, I'll put them up.

Sorry, these are kinda crappy. I touched them up as much as I could, but it was with my cell phone.

Here is the exhaust tip. It is whited out kinda bad, but I circled as many of the air inlets as I could see. To me, it doesn't seem like these are deep enough in the exhaust stream to cool off anything. Hell they are only 2" up the tips. There is another one that looks almost like a "vented ball joint" that is a little farther upstream. Here's my "thought".....introducing OXYGEN into a BURN ========= MORE FIRE!!! I don't know.....maybe?

Here is the heat shield around the spare tire. This should be telling you something, if you need a heat shield on your spare. And forget even trying to put a remotely oversized spare tire under there.

hahahhahaha I was watchin survivor last night. I had just got done watchin borat on dvd and then i was watchin survivor and the like commerical for survivor talks of a contest. "Enter this contest and win a new 2008 Ford F450 Super Duty" I fell off the couch laughing my Dad was like what's so funny. I'm like dude that isn't a friggin prize. The first time u'd start it up she'd light on fire. I think saturday I might jsut go out to a ford dealer and see what they say if i bring up this flamethrower stuff. "um um um um ummm I can assure u there's no issues with this vehicle"

My best friend is nuts about ford and when I told him about the flame thrower exhaust this is what he had to say, "That's just how badass ford's are." He has never owned a dodge in his life so I think he needs one, his ranger was in the shop every other week about for two months.

I can't believe these things are allowed on the road. How long's it gonna take for common sense to show up?

Thanks for the pics and the write up !!

I would not mind a rear flame Thrower on my Dodge. It would keep those pesky fat kids away when I am burning biodiesel. Fat kids love the smell of burning McDonalds....
