Default New here-Drove a new CTD yesterday

Hi everybody, I'll be graduating from college soon so I am starting to look seriously for a new truck. I went out to the local dodge dealer yesterday and took a 2007 2500 QC with the 5.9, 4spd auto and 20 miles on the ticker out for a spin. I wasnt sure if I wanted a diesel untill I drove that truck. The loop we took was probably about 75% highway, 25% city. We averaged (according to the computer) 17.5 mpg. I was really impressed with how tight and quiet the truck was. I wont be in a position to buy untill June or July, so I'll probably go for the 6.7 with the 6spd auto unless there are any 5.9's left over by then.

The only question I had was that during the drive, the orange check engine light was on the whole drive. Do most trucks come out of the factory needing a small tweak at the dealer or was this an abnormality?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi and welcome to DF, the check engine light should not be on.. probably something minor... The 5.9 is gonna be hard to find soon so I wish you luck on a speedy purchase!

Welcome to D.Forum. Now the check engine light, that can come on just because the gas cap is to loose. I did that one myself. It could be as simple as that.

Like above, probably just a sensor or FUEL cap. Either way, no delivery until that is taken care of.

It is an impressive ride. Took me a grand total of 10 minutes to get rid of my built-to-the-teeth F250 V10 for my CTD.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I figured the light probably wasnt anything major. And if I was buying it I wouldnt accept it untill it was fixed.

This sounds like something for Diesel Demon. They need to make a new commercial. No I am not a rocket scientist but I did drive a CTD last night.
