They did both gas and diesel, everything they added, even fuel injection cleaner made engines lose hp/trq and mpg. Best thing to do is just leave it alone and run what comes out the pump.

There is no need to run additives with ULSD.

Based on what I've just read in TDR, I'm starting to wonder if that's not the best thing to do. I'd hate to think that while I was under the impression that I was helping my engine, in reality I was hurting it.

Additives change the chemical make of the diesel fuel, it changes the flash point at which the diesel ignites in the cylinder, changes the burning temp and the rate of burning. It can cause alot of problems in the long run.

Take my opinions with a grain of salt if you wish, I only work for a Shell refinery in Bakersfield.

The noise is the nature of the beast. I personally like it. If you out for quietness, I suggest getting a gas engine truck. Other than that I dont know what to tell yeah. Running oil in your diesel will just cause excessive soot and carbon build up on your pistons, heads, valves and exhaust. Which will cause problems down the line.

BTW, yes Shell does profit sharing when you get high up in the ranks, executive positions lol

I'm not tring to offend you at all Vinny. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this whole thing, and based on what you've told me, what that link to that othersite said, and what TDR said, I thnk I'm gonna run a couple of tanks without the brew and see how things go.

When does the summer mix come out, and the winter blend go away?

No offense taken my friend. Its really up to the plant to decide, out here in california , so-cal anyways we dont run winter mix at all. It really depends on what regoin you live in. South may get it sooner then the north. I just depends on regoinal weather. If New York, Philadelpia, Washington DC still has snow or low average temps then they may wait an extra month to send a different mix. If I had to guess, Id say the end of April.
