I was coming home from work one day and just down the road a bit there was a group of those damn mellon heads "Pedal bike riders" right in the middle of the road and they were not letting any body pass. Finally when there was a clear spot to pass a CTD about 3 trucks ahead of me just covered em in smoke. I about had to pull over I was laughing so hard. I think they had it coming to them, I live in a small country towm. but there is a resort town about 20miles away. We get those bikers by the hundreds in the summer and about 99% of em are resort town snobs that go out of their way to get in your way.

It doesn't look like it came from him. If you look at it closely, there are DRW tracks going through it..

I don't get all the concern I see about getting pulled for to much smoke. That's what a diesel does and I'm on the road everyday following dump trucks blowin' tons of smoke.

Is there a difference in laws about a dump truck and personal truck ? Or, is it a emissions thing ? I thought diesels are exempt from emissions ?

In California, ALL 2008 and later model diesels will have to go through emissions testing. If you buy a 08 model with a diesel, your gonna have to have it tested. 07 and earlier models are exempt.

New Law
• Starting with model year 2008, all heavyduty
diesel trucks sold in California will
have to be equipped with an automatic
engine shutdown device to be activated
after 5 minutes of idling.
• Starting January 2008, all trucks equipped
with sleeper cabs operating in California
must comply with the 5-minute idling limit.
Lower emission methods of heating and
cooling the cab during rest periods must be
employed.

The Periodic Smoke Inspection Program requires that diesel owners conduct annual inspections of their vehicles and repair those with excessive smoke emissions. To ensure compliance, the ARB randomly audits fleets, maintenance and inspection records and tests a representative sample of vehicles. All vehicles that do not pass the test must be repaired and retested. Heavy Duty Vehicle Inspection Program and Periodic Smoke Inspection Program training is available for fleet and other heavy duty diesel maintenance personnel through the California Council on Diesel Eductation and Technology.
