Are you replacing the stock switch with the same damn one, or is it a "beefier" version?
Seems silly to replace a known defective switch with another known defective switch.

Dodge had a problem with the headlight switches for a good number of years.
ALL of the exterior lighting is routed through the headlight switch first. it burns out causing all kinds of catastrophe!!!
your lookin about $60 or so for a new switch and wire harness for it.

I had this same problem when I bought my '05. The left brake light was out, and one of the running lights. I bought a pack of running lights, put them in still didn't work. I bought a pack of tail lights, put one in, didn't work. So I unplugged the fuse in the fuse box, and put it back in. They light up fine, weird. The Ram's have all the lights and the radio, fused to one fuse. Atleast on the '05s. I'd just try unplugging it and putting it back in, if it doesn't work, get a new fuse.

OK, went through the underhood box, swutched fuses around, no change. Replaced dash switch, no change. Checked and tightened all visible ground wires, no change. I never thought about the dimmer switch though, I'll check on that in the morning.I used my test light on the headlight plug and got a positive charge on all three posts!! I am assuming the center post is the ground for both the high/low beams........but I get power to it in lowbeam mode....so maybe dimmer switch is a likely culprit Knda a bitch to check it though...worse case scenario is I'll spliceinto the "hot" ground wire and make a new ground and tape off the "hot" ends. Sort of a crude resolution but if it gets the truck driveable, so be it. Please keep the ideas coming...I hate chasing wiring gremlins!!!!!!!!!!

Dieseldemon.......just like you said...purple wire was pulled out of the connector up on the dimmer/blinker assembly. I snugged it up , re-installed and put a little rvt silicone behind it to help hold it in place....also pulled up a bit extra wire and taped it snugly to the rest of the harness and left a little extra up top to keep it a bit loose. Thanks guys for all your help!!!!! I'll take a couple of pics of my truck and post it up....I think you'll like it!! Hohner
