RE: HIGH EGT
I don't have a boost gage anymore because I took out the edge. When I had the edge on level 0 it was about 28psi on level 5 38psi I have changed the filter from the true flow to stock and now back with no diff.
I would get a bigger turbo in a heart beat if I was sure that would solve my egt's but other than the pipe and air intake it is stock. I don't know if when I had the edge it could have screwed some thing else up. I get some smoke but no more that the others that I see. It doesn't burn oil or miss andit pulls so well.
Just grasping for straws but one of you good people said to grab a lower gear but I have tried that and the more rpm the higher the egts. When this first started I was way freaked out trying to keep egt's below 1300 but with a 5000 lb load I would be pulling a 6% grade at 45 mph. Now I just let it pull and not backout unless the egt's are more than 1400 for a while.
I know that sounds bad but I have been asking around at dealers, big rig shops but no one seems to havea reason other than parts changing to see what it will do.
Thanks for all the replies so far. I have become hooked on this site after finding it around a month ago I read up almost daily. I love the pics and links to theU tube. I have looked for and have found others but nothing like this family.
Thanks in advance for your support.

RE: HIGH EGT
Well it is not just your truck unless it is mine also. I can easily hit 1350 to 1380 towing my 7000 pound trailer. Empty it tops out low 1300's unless I REALLY lay into it but it will go to 100% back-down when towing. I have tried different settings but I think the EGT probe position can have a lot to do with it. I will be getting a gage set soon that will come with a thermocouple and I will install it post turbo to see what the temp drop is.

ORIGINAL: DieselDemon
I was gonna ask the original poster:
You can't shut off overdrive on your truck? I thought all the automatics had an overdrive off button. Would only allow 3rd gear and lockup, no OD.
I could be wrong.
Good luck with your ride.

RE: HIGH EGT
Here is probably a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway.
Where is your EGT probe mounted?
I don't have one, but I remember reading that if your probe was mounted in spot "A", that it would read 200+ degrees higher than position "B"
Maybe your fine and it's where you've mounted your probe that has you nervous?
I dunno ....

RE: HIGH EGT
diesel demon or anyone,
My probe is pre turbo located about 4" if front of the Y where the manifold turns down to the turbo. I guess it could be a bad injector on any of the first 3 holes. Does anyone know ifI had a bad injector, would thatnot show up as a code?If so is there a test that would show a bad injector?
