Default Hour meter

another thing you can do it before you put the key in is hold the trip button down and turn the key to run, this will give you the hour meter. write this number down. then get the mileage. all you are doing is makeing sure the truck has not had excessive idle time which WILL kill injectors.
When you hold the trip meter down, what are the 2nd and 3rd set of numbers that come up?

what you are doing is a panel check. I believe you need to hold down the ODO button untill it shows up.

it has been a while since I did mine. . .guess I need to see how many hours I have now

I thought I remember the service manager telling me that my truck had an hour meter and a idle time meter? I'm not sure that wasn't just a scare tacktick because it came along with the don't idle too much speech.

What would be too much idling? Is it within a specific time frame, like if I am lettign it idle for 1 minute before I shut down every time I drive it am I hurting the motor?
