Burnt tranny up in the MT's (56k warning)
Ran up to play in the mountains, some of them logging roads were pretty steep easily 12%+ grade. I was running 1st gear 2wd doing about 5-8mph enjoying the scenery looked down to see the trans hit 210F. Needless to say I stopped and tossed it into neutral real quick. Let it cool back down. I was able to make it up the rest of the mountain in 4lo without breaking 195F. Got back home and checked the fluid, has the same color as a tarnished penny[:@]

RE: Burnt tranny up in the MT's (56k warning)
Hey Jakebrake, I can see the importance of gagues. Do you think that any severe damage had occured? I'm surprised that driving up a steep grade would have heated up the trans that much, were you towing anything?
In my search for transmission upgrades, a local shop owner did give me some good advice. He asked how often do I change my engine oil. My reply, every 5000 miles or so. Then his statement that made sense was that transmissions also work as hard and need simular care and more often fluid change intervals.
Later this month I'm taking the plunge with adding three gagues along with a ATS Assembly 4 billet transmission. I'm planning some camping trips and will pass thru some mountains. Thanks for sharing that special moment of concern, it might save someoone some greif down the line. Great pics too!

Just had the quad in the back, I didn't figure it would get that hot with basically no load and going slow. I don't think it did anymore damage to it than the edge comp has done. About once every other month the fluid get changed in my trans because it get burnt. I do filters every 4 months. Just trying to keep it alive for a little while longer (the end of summer is when things are going to get a little fun)

I know what to do next time to keep the trans happy. Course next time I'll probably take my brother chevy, there were a lot of roads the dually doesn't fit down. The paint does have a few battle scars, but it's a work truck. Someday it'll get a paint job, but that's after all the fun mods
