Thanks guys. So much for the jet sound (I'll have to stick to the Pratt & Whitney 4060 I have at work).
Think I'll pull out the ring and check it out. Anyway, if I think it's too loud it'll only be a minor job re-installing.

The truck you were referring to was probably a Ford 6.0. The '03 models had a wicked jet sound if you straight piped it and removed the turbo ring on them. I would not want all the trouble that comes along with that sound though. I had an '04 and it was a POS.

i have the soundthat u are looking for and it was acutally fairly cheap. get the 4" exhaust kit from summit (summit brand). costs $300 and its sounds awsome

There is a powerstroke down the road that has an exhaust and you can here the turbo coming from the end of my street. I think it sounds good, even if it is a ford.

Check out this link. This guy could probably give you some pointers. It would definately get the sound you are looking for.

Good luck getting your turbine sound. Meanwhile, get a striaght through (diesel) muffler and enjoy that cummins noise. I've got the magnaflow 5" dp to dual 4" and I love the sound.

The powerstrokes if you judge them from sound only are pretty sweet. but from everything else they just plain suck.
