Default My newly arrived 2007 Ram 2500

Good morning everyone. I finally took delivery of my new Ram 2500 last night. It's a real beauty, and it's the first new car I have ever bought for myself. It's also my first Dodge and my first diesel, although I've driven dieselbuses and trucksduring my younger years. My first impression is that the engine is very quiet and smooth. And torquey! The exhaust brake is cool, with a switch on the dash to turn it on/off. The Getrag G56 shifts very smoothly, and the clutch feels about right. When I picked it up it probably had about two gallons of fuel in the tank, so I topped it off with ULSD at my local BP station. The price was $2.899/gallon, 30 cents less thanthemidgrade gasmy wife uses in her BMW.

I willl try to post some photos soon. For now I am enjoying my new Ram.

Congratulations on your new truck!

I didn't know the 07's had an engine brake. I suppose thats what happens when I don't keep up with things!

Neither didI until last saturday.

A friend of mine showed up last saturday at a partyI was at with a shiney new CTD. It sounded really quiet. He told me he was really happy with it and that he was really happy with the exhaust brake. I said "what" ?? He told me they come with exhaust brakes now. I was shocked. I didn't get a chance to look under the hood, but the truck sure looked nice. Sucker even had cab lights.

Best of luck with your new ride hil !!

the exhaust brake is actualy built into the turbo. . .since the turbo is a VGT when you lift off the throttle the vane closes off restricting the exhaust.

I wonder what it would take to mount that turbo onto my engine

What's a "VGT" turbo, and how is it different than the oneI have now??
