06 Mega cab 8000 miles. Just started yesterday. Tried to go up a 20% grade.
Black exhaust smoke...EGT's rise to 1200. No increase in RPM or speed. Diag code p0148. Could it be a clogged fuel filter???

Yes it could be.

 

Turns out...after taking it to 2 different dealships....the fuel filter fell apart. 9320 miles on it....covered under warranty. Super glad that's all it was.

 

better hope your CP3 is ok and the filter media has not clogged or worn anything.

 

Why do you think it shredded like that?

Are you using any additives?

 

probably a filter that passed QAQC with a defect that wasnt seen. . .bet it was a guy on the line that got tanked the night before.

 

Oooooppps, I knew I shouldn't have filtered my beer with that before I put it in the box. [:-]

 

The filter media was intact, but one of the rings (I think the top) came off and was clogging/blocking the inlet port.

 

Unless your filter is TOTALLY different than my stock filter was, I can't for the life of me see this happening.

If the top o-ring came off, the filter wouldn't seat at all and I would think it would leak.

These are bad pictures for describing what I'm talking about, but in this picture you can see a filter that I ripped the top off of just to retain the o-ring part
