i was wondering how you take off the serpentine belt on an '04 ram? it's the 2500 series with a/c and it's automatic. i've checked a few times already, but i still can't figure out how to remove or even loosen the thing. any help would be very much appreciated. thanks.
Most serpentine belts on newer vehicles use a tensionar pully system. One of the pullies that the belt is going around is on a spring loaded arm that keeps the tension tight. On my 07 Ram CTD the pully is on the lower left side, I'm not sure where it is on yours though. (when looking at the engine from the front bumper.) To get the belt off you need to push against the spring tension on the tensioner arm. Most tensioners allow you to use a 3/8" or 1/2" ratchet/breaker bar to use as a lever. There should be a square hole to put this in.
