Stupid question........
Why are diesels called "oil-burners"? (See, told you it was stupid) Do they normally burn some oil or is it because diesel fuel is closer to raw oil than gasoline? Been looking for a diesel and was just wonderin' if adding oil is normal or what. Thanks for teaching a newbie. Been reading these forums for awhile and you diesel guys are hilarious.

Wow. . . . Mayfair actually wrote to me. . . . be still my heart. . . .
Thanks for the laughs guys, and the answer. So do you ever actually use motor oil between changes? My dad's trucks (cat) have always used oil and just curious if that's normal for these smaller diesels after they break in or whatever.

I've been adding a little 2 stroke oil ( 1oz per gallon ) to my diesel fuel at every fill up if that's what you mean.
