Well im sure some of you have seen me on these forums i drive a 96 1500 gasser and am an extremely huge fan of the cummins turbo diesel and the dodge ram..... Also some of you may know im only 18 and thats why i drive my gasser and thats because money isnt exactly plentiful.... also some of you are probaly saying y are you over here instead of the 2nd gen site and basically its because you guys are more fun!!!

But now im gonna get to the point.....
I just figured out my work schedule for the summer before i start college in the fall and im going to be working 40 hours a week of masonry construction and about 30 hours as a supervisor at UPS... now with these kind of hours i should be getting enough income to put a hefty down payment on a CTD.... My price range is Probaly gonna be between 14 and 17 grand.... obviously i would love to be on the cheaper side but lets see how it goes.... In this price range what would you reccomend searching for as far as:
Year?
12v or 24v?
Mileage?
Auto or Manual?

Keep in mind that i plan on having this truck for an extremely long amount of time and i want to modify EVERYTHING!!!! and make it the baddest truck it can be even twin turbos at some point and of course a small lift with 35's.... 97 or early 98 12v with a manual trans and low miles.

low miles as in...? and isnt the maual on those years a 5 spd?

 

Either way your gonna have to put a trans in to handle that hp, I've seen them 5speeds do some pretty awsome stuff. One guy 4linked his rear and everytime he launched, it would pull the front tire off the ground. As for mileage anything under 150k would be nice.

 

150k really the thing should be that strong with those miles...? and you are very right about the trans didnt even think of that can you get a 6 speed replacement.... and how many gears are in the autos?

I average about 65 hours a week working with last week of the month close to 70-75 hours, Mayfair you are more than welcome to my wife. Hell I will even pay you to baby sit, Would be cheaper than paying to have her around.
