What happens if you run LSD through a 6.7L CTD

No LSD is the disel that has been used up until i think the last year or so where the ulra low sulfur diesel has come out. The problem is that the 6.7L is designed to run on ULSD and ULSD only not like the 5.9 which can run on both and be fine.

FYI, As per the EPA web site, LSD can be sold for on road use until 10/2010 but not in the state of CA. Some of the small refineries were given the permission to keep making LSD for what ever reason they gave the EPA for them to say ok you can keep making LSD until 2010.

This keeps coming up and I want to know where specifically you see LSD fuel is being sold in the lower 48 at retail outlets for use on the highway. Not fleet fueling centers for big rigs or off road farm use or heating oil outletsbut for your average Joe. If it is LSD it is not intended for general use in our trucks.

Regulations for Clean Diesel Engines and Fuels
The Agency is devoting significant efforts to ensuring the successful implementation of stringent new standards for diesel fuel and new diesel engines. These standards are the critical foundation of EPA’s diesel control program.
Beginning June 1, 2006, refiners must begin producing clean ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel- diesel fuel with a sulfur level that is at or below 15 parts per million (ppm)- for use in highway diesel engines. Low sulfur (500 ppm) diesel fuel for nonroad diesel engines will be required in 2007, followed by ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel for these machines in 2010, and for locomotives and marine engines in 2012.

Big Dummy! LSD in a 6.7, the engine could care less, but God help the DPF. ULSD is mandated by September 07 for all applications. By early 08 we wont see LSD anymore! The bad part is the ULSD doesn't lubricate as well, Fleet Guard has slow lube release filters to help, otherwise you better use Lucas in every tank!

The EPA web site is a maze of links but belowis an excerpt from there. If you can post a link that shows where you are allowed to use LSD for highway use that would be great. All I can find indicates that there are no allowed sales of PURE LSD for highway use. There may be low turn over tanks that still have a higher ratio of LSD to ULSD but all tanks should be converting over to ULSD.

I quote below from the above listed web page:
[ul][*]Refiners and importers nationwide must ensure that at least 80 percent of the volume of the highway diesel fuel they produce or import is ULSD-compliant by June 1, 2006.[*]Diesel fuel classified as ULSD must reach distribution and marketing points downstream from refineries (i.e., pipelines, distributors, terminals and transporters) by September 1, 2006 (July 15, 2006 in California).[*]ULSD fuel is expected to be available at many retail locations by October 15, 2006
(September 1, 2006 in California).[*]Diesel fuel classified as Low Sulfur Diesel fuel may still be sold at retail locations outside of California between October 15, 2006 and December 1, 2010.[*]The State of Alaska has received an extension of the highway fuel 15 ppm requirement. [/ul]

Is the 6.7L running piezo injectors like the others? If so, running LSD will supposedly clog the injectors and they'll have to be replaced (probably not under warranty).
