Truck is still under warranty...
so I yanked the TST harness, egt probe, andAFE intake in preparation for a stealer visit. The stealer is telling me that I wont be able to register my truck unless I get the reverse park recall done. I told him I dont want it and will cut my horn wires if they install it and he said no problem, we'll worry about it when the DMV requires it to be installed. I would think they could just enter it into the system that it has been done somehow but IDK.
I called the tranny shop from Tuesday and asked if I might be able to get away with backing off the band adjustment a hair to kind of limp it thru the weekend for local drives only and he says it may work but if the band breaks, the plunger will drop into the tranny and could take out something else. [:@] I was supposed to yank the spacers out this weekend and ship them out, so now what? I know if the dealer has my truck it'll be at least 2 weeks before I get it back, probably more the way they work.
well the only good thing here is it's forcing me to finish the install on my egt gauge... (never did finish it).

horn honks with door open while in reverse... stupid
funny thing is I did tow back at the end of April, it was a sloppy shift back then but it was still driveable. I went out and backed the band adjustment out another 1/2 turn and it seems to be a little better, although the tranny is cold so that could change. I need this truck to work for the next few days, then it can crap out all it wants. I can send it to the shop & let them work on it and let me know what the deal is with it & the warranty coverage.

Steve,
I think the "stealer" is BS'ing you. There is not even a smog test on our diesels in Calif. except on the 2007 6.7's. There is no safety inspection in Calif. so how are they going to know about any reverse park recall. I don't believe the Calif. DMV verifies recall work. I have had a number of recalls on my vehicles, that I ignored, because I hadalready taken care of the problem myself, or solved the problem myself, instead of waiting for the dealer to get around to it, and I have NEVER had a problem with the DMV about it.
I just had a Dodge dealer tell me they needed to replace the wire harness in my truck because there was probably a bad wire in my harness, causing a loss of power to the blower fan. (they could not just replace a bad wire, and they could not hook up my after market wireing for my lockup controller, anti-theft, etc.. I took my truck to a small shop with a good rep. at correcting electrical problems, by using a 12 V test light they found that the 10 Amp. fuse holder in the door was causing the problem, and fixed it. (I had checked the fuse and verified that I had power to the fuse holder, but had not checked that I had no power back from the use holder to the power pannel under the hood) If I would have let Dodge have the truck, they would have dinged me for $478 labor to R and R the entire dash, and still would have probably not found the problem.

yeah it does sound hard to be able to prove if a safety recall has been done or not. I would think with the right software & the vin number they should be able to know everything about your vehicle that has been done by the dealer, whether they hold back registration or not based on that could be a legal issue. there is no law that says I have to have all of my safety recalls done to my knowledge.
Sounds like u got a rolls-can-hardly.
Rolls down one hill and can hardly get back up the next.[sm=joke.gif]
Hopefully the stealership will back you up and fix the tranny.

IIRC several people have said they signed some waiver to not have the horn crap installed and others say the dealer just marks the vin # in the computer as having it done all ready, so check to see if they can do this for you.
